Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanaza! Whatever you celebrate, The Connors hopes it's wonderful! We have had a great holiday season this year! No-one is sick, everyone likes their gifts, and we've had some really good food. Yum.
Jenny, Katie and Kerri saw Aida in October, at the North Shore Music Theater in Beverly. The entire cast put forth magnificent performances! We saw Brad Anderson as Ramses in Aida; Brad of Fosse and Nine fame, and Brad of movie director The Machinist and Next Stop Wonderland fame too. We had front row tickets (well, right behind the pit) on opening night, and were not disappointed in the least. We also saw Company in November, at Speakeasy Stage in Boston. The pit orchestra of this show was outstanding! Tons of woodwinds!
Kerri finished up pep band season on Thanksgiving Day. Her holiday concert was in December, and the band and chorus shone. The school has a new chorus teacher, Mrs. Brown, and she seems to be filling the big shoes of Mrs. Caress very well. Kerri's favorite band number was Wildfire (not the horse song), and her favorite chorus number was Deck the Halls in 5/4 Time.
In November, Jenny met her brother Greg, her brother Mark, his wife Linda and her ADORABLE nephew Charlie, as well as her sister Rebecca and her husband Mike for a weekend in Maine. We try to get up there twice a year to visit our grandmother. We also go to the Comedy Club in Portland on Saturday nights for a super fun show! This visit was hampered a bit by Jenny's allergy reaction, but Sunday she and Greg stayed longer and visited. Greg also had a chance to see Jenny's new office, some of her co-workers, and her boss Jeanne.
Kerri's fall drama show You Can't Take It With You went off without a hitch. Kerri played Rheba, the family's housekeeper. She had a decent part, right down to a great costume (curlers in her hair) and spectacular sound effects (a whopping laugh and impression of a bomb). The play was hysterical, and the cast decided that Jenny was a necessary member of the audience, as her laughter was loud and gratuitous. Unfortunately, the fall plays don't get quite the turnout as the spring musicals!
Plans are underway to complete one of the girls' Christmas gifts. We are going to NYC to see Wicked! Uncle Greg and Babci are joining us; Vin is staying home to prepare for Kerri's 6th annual New Year's Eve party. Join us if you dare! The other major Christmas gift the girls got was Dance Dance Revolution. What a hoot that is!
